031 - INVENTION AND REINVENTION - Richard Dale

As a young engineer Richard Dale was hired by a university spinout that looked set to revolutionise the world of asset management. It was an exciting job at a company that was growing fast, building new products and entering new industries... right up until the money ran out.

For Richard this experience was eye-opening, one the shifted his focus away from engineering and towards the world of startup financing. It was the beginning of a lifelong journey that has seen him become one of the leading startup investors and advisors in Australia. Among many other career highlights, Richard was a founding partner of Sydney Angels, an organisation he helped grow from a whiteboard concept in early 2008 to one of the country's leading startup investment hubs.
